Welcome to discuss: Why are so many people optimistic about gallium nitride (GaN) devices? [Copy link]

Gallium nitride and graphene, which were hyped up a few years ago, are surprisingly similar in popularity. They are both new materials that promote the rapid development of related technologies. GaN devices are becoming more and more popular with the topic of 5G communications. People who have learned about science only know that "compared with silicon or other devices, gallium nitride is faster" and "compared with high-frequency processes such as gallium arsenide and indium phosphide, gallium nitride devices output more power". In the field of 5G technology, GaN can be smaller, more powerful, and have a higher power density. In the field of power device technology, GaN is known as the world's fastest power switching device, and it can be smaller in size. In the field of radar technology, GaN can help provide faster resolution and response time, claiming to be 100 or even 1,000 times faster than the silicon element in current laser radars. So the question is: For technology lovers, the description of “higher, faster, stronger” obviously cannot satisfy their desire for technology. Please feel free to speak your mind. What are the specific parameters and properties of GaN that make people more optimistic about GaN devices? From now until May 31, participate in the discussion and post a reward of 5-50 core coins Reference: Why use GaN technology to achieve 5G communication? These characteristics are the key!

GaN has high efficiency and wide bandwidth. I am personally optimistic about it, especially the future 5G. GaN should have a good performance.

I did a series of GAN tube testing in China in 2016. There is a gap between the domestic and American Keri, but it can still be replaced. Although it is not comprehensive, it does not affect it. After all, there are so many years of time difference and process gap. The test platform and simulation software have limitations, so I am still optimistic.  Details Published on 2019-5-23 13:59

I think the simulation software of the process gap test platform has covered most of the shortcomings of the gap. Is there any aspect that is better than others?  Details Published on 2019-5-23 16:11

Was there any difference in cost when testing at that time?
