3.7V-4.2V lithium battery charge and discharge protection chip? [Copy link]

I want to know what battery protection chips are used in the charge and discharge protection circuits of small-capacity lithium batteries such as 3.7V-4.2V in current wearable devices? I hope you can give me some advice and provide the manufacturer and model of the chip, thank you ! Because I have just come into contact with these power supplies, I don’t know much about them. Can the battery protection circuit detect the charging status and under-power (lack of power)? Or is there a special chip?

Coulomb metering is a more accurate and intelligent method, so it is more complicated. TI's BQ series has more chips that can be used. The voltage detection method is also commonly used. They are all general purposes, such as mobile lighting fixtures. If you need to know the remaining power, you can use LM324 to easily achieve it.  Details Published on 2019-4-19 10:19

Should I answer this or not... I'm struggling... We have a lithium battery protection IC that is still under testing... The most common lithium battery protection IC I've seen so far is DW01 (with various suffixes). Generally, lithium battery protection ICs are used for overcharge, over-discharge, and over-current protection, and the protection method is mostly to directly cut off the MOSFET. However, most of the ones I've come across are high-current (several A level). The current in wearable devices is so small, it's uncertain whether these protection ICs are still applicable...

Thank you. Do you know what chips are available in our mobile phones or wearable devices that can detect low battery?  Details Published on 2019-4-19 08:26

The original poster's requirement is a single-cell lithium battery protection IC. I recommend Seiko's S-8261, which is a general-purpose product. It is stable and reliable. You can find the s-82a1a series.

If cost factors are taken into consideration, several domestic manufacturers now have protection chips that are also very useful HY2110. Japan's Ricoh also has a single-cell R5460, which is also used by many people

Hello, can this protection chip detect low battery? Just like our mobile phones, when the battery is below 20%, it will prompt that the battery is too low. Is there a chip that can detect low battery, or is it all based on detecting the overall battery and then using the software to judge the collected voltage and current thresholds?  Details Published on 2019-4-19 08:25

The protection chip only protects the battery from charging and discharging. It protects the battery from over-voltage during charging, over-discharging to the minimum voltage during discharging, over-current protection, and short-circuit protection. The power detection is another circuit outside the protection circuit, or power chip, or voltage detection or charge monitoring.  Details Published on 2019-4-19 08:40

The protection chip only protects the battery from charging and discharging. It is for battery charging overvoltage, over-discharging to the minimum voltage during discharge, over-current protection, short-circuit protection function. Power monitoring needs to be done with the help of MCU. There are also simple voltage detection pure analog circuits, such as the power detection on electric vehicles. The power detection of mobile phones is to detect the charge amount, monitor the charging and discharging current, and add software display

That is to say, a battery fuel gauge or coulomb counter is used, and then combined with MCU to perform calculations and judgments to complete the low battery detection and warning function! Is this the only method with the most applications?  Details Published on 2019-4-19 09:10
