Current status of domestic and foreign automotive radar products[Copy link]
This post was last edited by Aguilera on 2019-4-18 22:02 The United States, Europe and Japan are leading in the research of automotive radar technology. At present, more and more companies and suppliers are investing in the development of automotive radar systems, device development and algorithm research. In 1999, Mercedes-Benz of Germany took the lead in adopting the autonomous cruise control system of 77GHz millimeter-wave radar; in 2003, the 77GHz automotive radar developed by Bosch was officially put into commercial use; in 2013, Panasonic and Fujitsu developed the 79GHz band millimeter-wave automotive radar. At present, the key technologies of millimeter-wave automotive radar are mainly monopolized by traditional automotive parts giants such as Continental, Bosch, Denso, and Autoliv, especially 77GHz millimeter-wave radar, which is mastered by only a few foreign companies. In my country, breakthroughs have been made in the key technologies of 24GHz and 77GHz millimeter-wave integrated circuits. Among them, 24GHz millimeter-wave integrated circuits have been mass-produced and are being tested, but the localization of 77GHz millimeter-wave integrated circuits has been slow. The main progress of domestic related products is as follows: Southeast University Millimeter Wave State Key Laboratory has completed the development of single-function chips such as 8mm band mixers, frequency multipliers, switches, and amplifiers. At present, the design and development of single-chip receiving/transmitting front ends are being carried out; Xiamen Yixing Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. has made a breakthrough in the 24GHz automotive active safety radar RF front-end integrated circuit, and is the only company in China that provides 24GHz automotive active safety radar RF front-end MMIC solutions; Shenyang Chengtai Technology Co., Ltd. has made a breakthrough in the research and development of 77GHz automotive millimeter wave radar key technologies, and the product is expected to be launched soon. At present, the development of the domestic millimeter wave radar industry mainly faces the following problems: ① The overall competitiveness of the industry is relatively weak. At present, the domestic industrial chain is not yet mature. Foreign commercial vehicle radars have a history of several decades, and China has only started in recent years. The launch of products will face fierce competition. ② There is an extreme shortage of talents. The research and development of vehicle-mounted radars requires rich experience and capabilities in radar system and millimeter wave RF design, and the talents in this field are mostly concentrated in military enterprises and foreign enterprises. ③ There is great financial pressure. Due to the weak technical foundation, the testing equipment and production equipment required for research and development need to be purchased from abroad, which is expensive and the future benefits are unknown. Domestic manufacturers are facing great financial pressure. ④ The development cycle is long. The development cycle of a millimeter-wave radar is more than 12 months. The product also needs to pass static testing, dynamic testing, on-vehicle testing and testing in various complex environments. The entire development cycle takes at least 2 years.
