On the afternoon of May 9, ZTE Mobile officially released the new generation ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, which is also the first flagship product after becoming the spokesperson of Wu Jing.
ZTE Axon 40 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 flagship chip and has its own characteristics in terms of screen, imaging, performance, etc. It is officially claimed to be "born for big scenes."

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra uses a new generation of flexible under-screen camera technology, which is its third-generation commercial product technology. And this time you can’t see the evaluation lens, it truly has a complete screen form.
The new phone uses a 400PPI high pixel density screen in the camera area, with a full-screen blue diamond arrangement for better visual fusion. The industry's first independent pixel one-drive-one technology, each pixel unit is driven by a separate pixel circuit, and the screen display is clearer and more detailed. The circuit uses distributed transparent wiring to eliminate the edge circuit aggregation in the under-screen area, and the picture is smoother and more natural.
Officials mentioned that the UDC Pro display chip has been further upgraded, integrating MRC algorithm upgrades and intelligent pixel enhancement and intelligent display optimization technologies to make the display more accurate and synchronized. With this flawless full screen, ZTE Axon 40 Ultra brings a more perfect immersive viewing experience.
The front camera has also been upgraded. ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is equipped with a 16-megapixel front-facing under-screen camera, which can achieve a 2.24μm fusion large pixel effect, bringing greater light sensitivity to the under-screen camera area. The front camera "Spiritual Transparency Algorithm 3.0" uses AI deep learning noise reduction to perform real-time image calibration in different light environments, achieve defogging, intelligent anti-glare, and improve image clarity and transparency. Smart beauty can also further improve facial shooting effects.
This new product is equipped with a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen, supports 1116*2480 resolution FHD+, peak brightness up to 1500nit, 100% coverage of DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 10-bit color depth, 1.07 billion color display, bringing extreme color and clarity; supports 120Hz intelligent high refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. The 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming function can effectively reduce the screen flicker in dim scenes, plus the German Rhine TUV low blue light eye protection certification, high-standard care for eye health.
In terms of appearance, ZTE Axon 40 Ultra adopts a 71-degree "waterfall-style" curved design, and the 3.9mm curvature makes it more comfortable to hold.
The back uses a frameless glass design for the rear camera, which perfectly "hides" the metal platform. The Label design 2.0 is more simple and pure. The color scheme has two high-end Chinese style color schemes to choose from: ink painting and Dunhuang.
While the full screen allows users to "see the big scene", the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra's three main camera configuration has been fully upgraded to create the industry's strongest three main cameras covering a 64-megapixel super-human main camera, a 64-megapixel ultra-wide-angle main camera, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto main camera, matched with multiple "industry-only" powerful computing imaging capabilities, further achieving an imaging flagship that "records big scenes".
The new phone’s humanistic and wide-angle main cameras are the industry’s first to use dual Sony IMX787 sensors, which can achieve dual full-pixel omnidirectional focus, making focus faster and more accurate.
Among them, the more distinctive one is the "humanistic main camera", which uses a 35mm equivalent focal length, is equipped with a 7P lens, matches a large aperture of f/1.6, and has a hardware-level optical blur effect. The wide-angle main camera uses a 16mm equivalent focal length, 4cm AF macro, wide-angle macro two-in-one, and ultra-low distortion of free-form surface. Among the three main camera phones with the same pixel in the industry, the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is the only product with all main cameras supporting 8K ultra-high-definition video recording, which can capture thousands of details from a more comprehensive perspective; it is also the only product in the industry with all three main cameras equipped with lightning capture function, which can achieve fast and clear capture of moving subjects through customized adaptive shutter tracking algorithm; it is also the only product in the industry with all three main cameras using preset focus, which can manually preset the focus distance before shooting, further reducing the focus time.
The super night scene video function is further enhanced, and the AI video super-quality algorithm can increase picture brightness, enhance the resolution and dynamic range of dark areas, reduce noise, and truly restore color information.
Starry sky photography methods such as smart moon, starry sky enhancement, AI constellation, humanistic image color system, and rich humanistic filters such as Master Bresson's black and white filter and film filter, help users play with a variety of imaging scenes.
In terms of core configuration, ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is equipped with the new flagship configuration of Snapdragon 8+UFS3.1+full-blood LPDDR5. The nine-layer heat dissipation architecture has a total heat dissipation area of 36356mm2; it is matched with a new dual-channel enhanced VC liquid cooling temperature plate, waterfall-style rapid heat conduction design, and the official claims that the thermal conductivity cycle capacity can be increased by 400%; the micro-nano cavity graphene phase change temperature plate has a 140% increase in heat absorption performance and a 300-fold increase in capacity.
ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is also equipped with Snapdragon Sound and DTS stereo dual speakers, X-axis linear motor, 90/120 high frame rate, and a comprehensive and shocking upgrade experience. Lane-level high-precision navigation supports L1+L5 dual-frequency positioning, which can accurately identify the current lane.
