Top 100 Asian Supply Chain Companies by Market Value in 2021: 9 Chinese semiconductor companies on the list with a combined market value of US$209.1 billion

According to the 2021 "Asian Supply Chain Top 100 Market Value Survey Report" released by DIGITIMES Asia, the semiconductor industry and the automotive manufacturing industry account for more than half of the top 100 Asian supply chains. In 2021, the Asian semiconductor industry performed well and remained the leader in industry market value. The total market value of the semiconductor industry reached US$1,156.9 billion, an increase of 36.3% over the previous year. Mainland China and Japan grew fastest at 63.2% and 56.9% respectively.

Among the top 100 semiconductor companies by market value, the largest number of companies are from mainland China, with 17 companies, followed by 5 from Taiwan, 4 from Japan, and 1 from South Korea. Among them, TSMC, MediaTek, UMC, ASE, and GlobalWafers from Taiwan, China, have a total market value of US$705.3 billion, far exceeding that of mainland China, Japan, South Korea and other regions. TSMC even dominates Asia with a market value of US$576.3 billion.

Nine companies from mainland China, including Will Semiconductor, SMIC, North Huachuang, Unigroup Guoxin, Zhonghuan Semiconductor, GigaDevice, Silergy, Montage Technology, and Jingsheng Electromechanical, made the list, with a total market value of approximately US$209.1 billion.

The second largest industry in Asia's supply chain market value is the automotive manufacturing industry (including the automotive parts industry). Related companies occupy about 1/4 of the top 100 list. Their influence cannot be underestimated. They represent the pulse of Asia's automotive industry supply chain and also affect the direction of the global electronics and hardware industry.

Although Japan's Toyota Motor ranks third and first in the Asian Supply Chain Top 100 List and the automotive industry list with a market value of US$298.6 billion, mainland China still holds a strong position in the overall automotive industry in Asia with the support of national policies. Last year, 12 automotive industry chain companies made the list with a total market value of more than US$650 billion. Among them, CATL and BYD, which ranked fourth and seventh, had market values ​​of US$215.6 billion and US$114 billion respectively, with annual growth rates of 72% and over 46% respectively.

DIGITIMES Asia pointed out that with the reshuffle of the global supply chain, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to control production layout and upstream and downstream supply chains. Only by building a strong competitive wall through core competitiveness and maximizing the scale of operations can they gain a firm foothold in the world production and consumption system with Asia as the core.
