According to DigiTimes, citing industry insiders, multiple component suppliers in Apple's supply chain are preparing for shipments of the third-generation iPhone SE, which is expected to be launched in the first half of 2022.
Suppliers see no reduction in orders for new iPhones. According to industry insiders, VCM (voice coil motor) and other component suppliers still have not seen a reduction in orders for new iPhones, and are preparing for shipments of the next-generation iPhone SE series that Apple is expected to launch in the first half of 2022.
Research firm TrendForce claims that the new iPhone SE will specifically be released in the first quarter of 2022. If this time frame proves to be accurate, we can expect the device to be released before the end of March.
According to the latest forecast by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his research report, the iPhone SE 3 will still have a 4.7-inch screen and 3GB of memory. Based on this, it is speculated that its appearance will be exactly the same as the current iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 8, still using an LCD panel and front-facing Touch ID fingerprint recognition.
However, he pointed out that there will be an iPhone SE update in 2023, but it will be equipped with a larger display and 4GB of memory. For Apple, the most cost-saving approach is to cover the iPhone 8 Plus. Of course, the possibility of switching to a hole-punch OLED screen + side fingerprint is not ruled out.
There have been recent rumors that the starting price of the iPhone SE 3 will be further reduced, lower than the previous generation's $399 (3,299 yuan in China).
