On the second day of the Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm released the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1, a handheld gaming platform. Razer has already launched a prototype of the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 handheld gaming console, which is similar to the positioning of Switch.
The 1st generation Snapdragon G3x gaming platform brings the next generation of gaming experience to players. Its supported features include: Qualcomm Adreno™ GPU supports ultra-smooth gaming experience at 144FPS, and 10-bit HDR gaming experience with more than 1 billion colors. Qualcomm FastConnect™ 6900 mobile connection system supports a powerful connection experience, and its supported Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E can achieve low latency and high-speed upload and download. When running bandwidth-intensive games online through Xbox Cloud Gaming or Steam Remote Play services, 5G millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz support to achieve ultra-high-speed, non-stuttering cloud gaming experience.
In addition, Snapdragon Sound™ technology optimizes sound quality, latency, and robustness, allowing gamers to identify their location by sound and immerse themselves in all the dynamics of the gaming environment. With the support of AKSys, the 1st generation Snapdragon G3x gaming platform can provide precise touch-to-game controller mapping technology, making the built-in game controller widely adaptable to games. Connect the XR Viewer to a device equipped with the 1st generation Snapdragon G3x gaming platform via USB-C to enable a multi-screen enhanced experience. The platform can also enable the terminal to serve as a supporting controller to drive a 4K display screen.
The Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 processor and Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 development kit are currently mainly developed in cooperation with Razer. The Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 handheld is equipped with a complete joystick, directional keys, shoulder keys, etc. It is not large in size, but is relatively long and narrow.
It is reported that in addition to the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 mobile platform for high-end smartphones, Qualcomm will cooperate with Razer to develop the Snapdragon G3x Gen1 platform specifically for handheld mobile devices.
The developer kit of this platform was designed by Qualcomm and Razer. In terms of display, the development kit uses a 6.65-inch OLED display, supports FHD+ resolution and 10-bit HDR, supports up to 120Hz display refresh rate, and can present a display effect of more than 1 billion colors. The development kit is equipped with a 5-megapixel webcam and two microphones, supports shooting 1080P 60FPS video, and allows players to shoot their game screens and broadcast them live to the audience. The kit can serve as an excellent live broadcast tool.
In addition, it supports 5G millimeter wave, Sub-6GHz and Wi-Fi 6E, bringing low latency, ultra-fast upload and download connection experience, and providing reliable and stable connection. The four-way speaker can provide an excellent audio experience. When connected to headphones that support Snapdragon Sound, players can experience ultra-low latency wireless audio experience.
In the future, Qualcomm's Snapdragon G3x Gen1 platform may not be limited to Razer's handheld game console, but may also be used in mobile devices such as thin and light laptops.
