Recently, Jia Shaoqian, president of Hisense Group, said in an interview with CNBC that the global chip shortage may last for two to three years before it ends.
Since last year, the impact of the global chip shortage has spread to all walks of life, from automobiles to consumer electronics, and many industries are actively responding to the pressure of shortages. Jia Shaoqian pointed out that Hisense produces home appliances and consumer products, which require relatively simple chips. Despite the tight supply and rising costs, Hisense's business operations are still normal.
Jia Shaoqian believes that most chips are imported into China, the finished products are manufactured locally, and then exported overseas. He said that if there are no trade problems in the world, the chip shortage problem is expected to be solved within 2 to 3 years. Relatively speaking, if the trade problem is not solved, it is difficult to estimate. Previously, most global business leaders expected that the chip shortage situation would continue until 2022, and some believed that it might last longer.
Currently, Hisense's overseas revenue accounts for 40%, and Jia Shaoqian hopes that the proportion of overseas revenue can be increased to 50% in the next 3 to 5 years.
