According to industry chain sources, Samsung Display Co., Ltd. (SDC) will mass-produce QD OLED in the fourth quarter, and QD OLED TVs will be released at CES 2022.
Recently, SDC decided to produce QD OLED panels on its 8.5-generation production line Q1 in Asan, Chungnam in November, with a monthly production capacity of 30K mother glass.
Samsung has been trial-producing, testing and evaluating samples since the middle of this year. Sony, Panasonic and well-known Chinese TV manufacturers are potential partners.
SDC plans to mass produce 55-inch and 65-inch TVs as the main sizes first. The 70-inch model will be launched later.
The SDC 8.5 generation production line adopts the MMG cutting process. The SDC 8.5 generation line has many ways to combine the size, and can produce 3 65-inch and 2 55-inch sheets at the same time; 3 65-inch and 6 32-inch sheets are also the most common cutting combination in the 8.5 generation.
RUNTO predicts that taking into account the yield rate, the annual shipment volume of QD OLED TV panels will be 1.4 million units in 2022.
