An early Apple I computer that is in good condition and fully functional is now worth at least $500,000. The world's first PC compatible computer, the Columbia PC, is more valuable than the first generation IBM PC due to its low production volume. A good one can now be sold for more than $100,000. There are two Columbias in the computer room of our department. I have used them many times. In the mid-1990s, they were sold as junk. I got the news a few days late and went to track down their whereabouts, but they were nowhere to be found. I was so sad that I beat my chest and stamped my feet. I feel sorry just thinking about it... I believe that an iPhone 1 that maintains its quality and functionality will be the best mobile phone of the time in thirty or fifty years, if mobile phones still exist. I plan to keep my Nokia N95 and 3310 for a long time, but the N95 is in poor condition now, so it can only be regarded as a "sentiment".   Details Published on 2019-11-6 23:40

In the past when there were feature phones, you could give away obsolete ones to people for continued use. But now with smartphones, obsolete ones are basically just put in the bottom of the closet. They are slow to respond, lag, and have short battery life, so no one wants to give them away.

Some people have more realistic ideas, such as giving it to others as a gift, or keeping it in the bottom of a box, haha.  Details Published on 2019-5-5 09:35

The iPhone is obsolete. Give it to the elderly. You can replace the battery and continue to use it.

I have basically lost many mobile phones. My first mobile phone in college was a no-name brand, full touch screen, and resistive screen. At first, the volume button did not work, and it was always in a state of constant contact, which consumed a lot of power. Later, I fell from the upper bunk, and the screen video did not work. The second mobile phone I bought was a niche domestic brand, Tianyu, and then I fell into the lake when I went out for boating. The third one I bought was a refurbished BlackBerry. After using it for a while, the trackball did not work. It was sometimes good and sometimes bad. The fourth one was a Hisense one given away when I topped up my phone bill. The fifth one was a smart phone. I bought a Xiaomi 2A with the money I earned from internship. The fourth one was discarded and given to my mother. The sixth one was an iPhone 6, and the fifth one was given to my mother. The seventh one was a Huawei P9 Youth Edition, and the eighth one was an Honor 10, with the iPhone as a spare. My mother and father's mobile phones were all bought new. The ninth one, on a whim, I bought a Nokia feature phone, which did not even have a camera function. I remember every one of them very clearly.

The reason for keeping it is not for collection, but because I am afraid that the secret will be leaked.

Obsolete mobile phones can also be used as 4G routers. Just insert a 4G card and you don’t need to install broadband.

Put it aside, and remove the battery if it can be removed. Currently, only one mobile phone with an unremovable battery has been retired, but I gave it to someone as a spare phone, so I think it can be used for its residual heat.

My first cell phone was a button-operated one. I dropped it into the water while fishing. I picked it up and dried it, but it still didn’t work. My second cell phone was a knockoff. It fell off my bed in the dormitory and the screen was shattered. I threw it away. My third cell phone was a ZTE. I bought it a few days ago and it had all kinds of problems (I think it was a refurbished one). I’ve been using the cell phones I bought later until now.

Basically, it's just sitting in a drawer gathering dust, and after a while it can't be charged or turned on. I don't know if I can replace the pot or scissors for a device like this.

I bought a cheap phone for over 500 RMB and after two years of use, the buttons were no longer sensitive. After leaving it there for a while, the touch screen was no longer working, so I threw it away.

Generally, old mobile phones are kept at home, so there is no big problem. They can also be used by family members to make phone calls.
