Samsung and Apple fight: LG stores can't just sell iPhones

Not long ago, LG, a veteran Korean mobile phone manufacturer, officially withdrew from the mobile phone market. There are reports that Apple is considering cooperating with LG to allow LG to sell products such as iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch in its own retail stores.

But Samsung, one of Apple's biggest rivals, is not happy.

According to local reports in South Korea, Samsung has expressed opposition to the partnership between Apple and LG. Samsung may be worried that LG's sale of iPhones in more than 400 stores in South Korea will threaten its market share of 5G smartphones.

Samsung is reportedly trying to indirectly put pressure on LG by asking South Korea's three major operators, including LG U+, to require LG to sell Galaxy phones in Best Shop stores.

However, the plan is likely to face some opposition within Samsung as it could affect sales at Samsung's own stores.

According to previous news, Apple and LG are still negotiating the details of the cooperation. One option is that LG obtains the right to sell Apple products, sets up Apple counters in LG stores, and Apple sends employees to sell them. Another option is that LG's own employees sell Apple products, and LG gets a commission.

It is worth noting that LG and Apple have another disagreement in the negotiations, that is, if Apple Mac products are sold in retail stores, it will affect the sales of its own notebook product LG Gram. Therefore, the two parties are discussing and have not yet made a final decision.

Samsung’s attitude towards this matter at this time may directly affect the trend of cooperation between Apple and LG, and Apple’s plan is likely to fail.
