Apple may release the next-generation "iPhone 12s" or "iPhone 13" product series in two to three months, and research firm TrendForce has outlined what to expect from the two devices in advance.
TrendForce's expected summary:
Apple will launch four new iPhones in September, including a mini model, a standard model, and two Pro models. September is the month when Apple releases new iPhones, but the iPhone 12 lineup was released in October last year due to production delays related to the new crown pneumonia.
The new iPhone will have a smaller "notch" above the screen, but will otherwise have a similar appearance design to the iPhone 12 models.
These devices will be equipped with the next-generation A15 chip manufactured using TSMC's 5nm+ process.
All four iPhones will be equipped with OLED screens, and the two Pro models will also be equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate for a smoother content experience.
The new iPhones will have the same storage capacity options as the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 models have 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage, while the 12 Pro models have a 512GB option.
The rear camera systems of all four iPhones will feature sensor-shift image stabilization, a feature currently exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. For the new Pro models, the ultra-wide-angle lens will gain autofocus.
LiDAR will still be limited to the Pro models.
Finally, TrendForce predicts that the annual production of iPhone in 2021 will increase by about 12.3% year-on-year to 223 million units.
