Open Atom Open Source Foundation responded: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is only the competent department for business

In response to rumors that "Hongmeng operating system belongs to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology", the Open Atom Open Source Foundation responded that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is only the business supervisory department, and the foundation is a non-profit organization registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The Open Atoms Open Source Foundation recently stated on its official WeChat account that all major matters regarding the OpenHarmony open source project are decided by voting by representatives of each member unit of the project group working committee. Voting rights are equal, and each unit has one vote, in accordance with the publicly clear OpenHarmony project group management system rules.

In September 2020, the Open Atom Open Source Foundation accepted the code related to the basic capabilities of the smart terminal operating system donated by Huawei, and then open sourced it. According to the naming rules, the open source project was named OpenAtom OpenHarmony (abbreviated as "OpenHarmony").

In December 2020, seven units including Boya, Huawei, JD.com, Runhe, Ecarx, the Software Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and ChinaSoft International (in alphabetical order of their abbreviations) established the OpenHarmony Project Group Working Committee under the organization of the Open Atoms Open Source Foundation and began to carry out open source community governance of the OpenHarmony project.

As of May 31, 2021, more than 240 co-construction enterprises, co-construction organizations and individual contributors have participated in the project co-construction. On June 1, 2021, the OpenAtom Open Source Foundation released the OpenHarmony 2.0 Canary version on the code hosting platform Gitee.
