According to Jiwei.com, according to Taiwan media Economic Daily News, this afternoon (13th), the Xingda Power Plant was shut down due to an accident, and the system's power supply capacity was insufficient, causing a major power outage throughout Taiwan.
The Southern Science Park Administration stated that there is a slight voltage drop in the Tainan Park, but it does not affect the power supply quality. There is currently no power outage and the production of manufacturers has not been affected. This is because large manufacturers such as TSMC and UMC also have dual-circuit power supply systems and will not be affected.
UMC also stated that there was only a slight voltage drop and there is currently no impact.
It is understood that the accident was caused by a busbar failure at the Lubei UHV substation in Luzhu District, Kaohsiung City, which caused a total of 4 units of the Xingda Power Plant to trip, causing a sudden drop in system frequency. Taipower immediately initiated low-frequency unloading and adopted a regional rotation power supply mechanism. At the same time, emergency repair equipment was carried out and power supply will be restored in succession.
