At the meeting, he mentioned that the global semiconductor industry's output value increased by 6.8% year-on-year in 2020, and the stock price performance was even more obvious. MediaTek also grew by about 30% last year. The overall semiconductor industry in Taiwan grew by 20.9%, exceeding the global average.
Previously, SEMI Global Marketing Director and Taiwan President Cao Shilun pointed out that Taiwan's semiconductor industry continued to grow against the trend in 2020 despite the impact of the epidemic, and it was a bumper year. The total output value jumped to the second place in the world, exceeding NT$3 trillion, an increase of 20.7% over 2019.
According to Taiwan media Economic Daily, regarding the growth factors of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, Cai Lixing believes that the strong parts of Taiwan's IT industry and semiconductor industry are in mobile phones, PCs and Wifi chips, which are perfectly combined with the demand generated by the epidemic. This is the first point.
Second, he said that Taiwan has a complete semiconductor industry chain. Hsinchu, Taichung, and Tainan have a keen sense of industry from OEM/ODM to manufacturing, packaging, and testing. This is also the nature of Taiwanese people. The topic of automotive electronics a while ago reflects that cars were not very sensitive in the past. He also mentioned, "Although Taiwan's semiconductor companies are in a tight supply situation, I believe that Taiwan's semiconductor companies are good at fast delivery."
