According to Cailianshe, people familiar with the matter revealed that BYD's "blade battery" has received an order from Hyundai Motor Group, and a Hyundai project team has been established, and it is expected to start supplying overseas next year.
In response, BYD’s secretary said that the possibility of future cooperation with Hyundai is not ruled out.
On March 29, 2020, BYD officially launched the blade battery, announcing that its driving range reached the same level as ternary lithium batteries and successfully passed the "needle puncture test". The Fudi Battery Factory in Bishan District, Chongqing is currently the only production base for blade batteries. The factory has a total investment of 10 billion yuan and a planned annual production capacity of 20GWH.
