According to the "Guangzhou 2020 Key Construction Preparatory Project Plan", Shenzhen Huaxing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. plans to invest in the construction of a printing and rollable display R&D and production base in Huangpu District, Guangzhou in 2021, and is expected to be completed and put into production in 2023. It is currently in the early stage of approval and construction, and plans to invest 3 million yuan in 2020.

At the 2020 China International OLED Industry Conference, Zhao Bin, general manager of R&D at TCL Huaxing, stated that the Guangzhou T8 production line project (TCL Huaxing Guangzhou 8.5-generation printed OLED production line) is under construction, with mass production initially planned for 2024.

In addition, a supply chain source revealed to Jiwei.com reporters that TCL Huaxing is considering building an 8.6-generation IPS LCD production line in Guangzhou, focusing on the IT panel market. The source further revealed that TCL Huaxing's 8.6-generation IPS LCD production line in Guangzhou has a planned monthly production capacity of 180K and is expected to be completed and put into production in September 2022.

Recently, according to the official microblog of Guangzhou Luogang Construction, the land leveling project of Zhaidong Huaxing Optoelectronics: the red line area of the project land is about 1.13 million square meters, and the land is adjacent to the first and second phases of the land filling project in Yonghe Zhaidong Village. The land use nature is mainly Class I industrial land (M1). This project is the land leveling project of the land. The construction of this project is of great significance to actively promote the implementation of the introduced projects and ensure the timely delivery of the land.

The project site is located in Yonghe Street, Huangpu District, and the Zhaidong Huaxing Optoelectronics site is located north of Yong'an Avenue and east of Yongsheng Road. The total red line area of the planned land is 1,093,000 square meters (about 1,639.5 acres), with a length of about 1,600 meters in the north-south direction and a width of about 1,200 meters in the east-west direction.

The project site is adjacent to the Shangcheng Community of Jindi Park in the north, Yong'an Avenue in the south, Hefeng Fourth Street in the west, and Tianxin Village in Zengcheng District in the east. According to the requirements of Huaxing Optoelectronics, the site is divided into T8 and T9 plots for site leveling design. The total investment of the project is 244.4963 million yuan, of which the construction and installation cost is 210.9625 million yuan. The project is currently under bidding.

Currently, the Korean manufacturer LGD monopolizes the large-size OLED panel market, mainly using the evaporation process. However, the evaporation process will result in extremely low material utilization, and the luminescent materials are extremely expensive, so the mass production cost remains high. At the same time, during long-term use, the OLED display may also show slight visual changes. If the screen displays a static image for a long time, it will leave an indelible afterimage, which is a normal phenomenon of OLED image retention and aging.

TCL Huaxing has been focusing on the research and development of printed OLEDs, trying to overtake others. TCL Huaxing believes that printed OLEDs are the most advanced because their device structure is simpler and has greater cost advantages, and are expected to be mass-produced.

At the same time, TCL Huaxing further expanded the IT market on the basis of consolidating TV panels. Sources revealed to Jiwei.com reporters that TCL Huaxing had previously wanted to make up for some of the shortcomings of IPS LCD panels by acquiring CEC Panda, because Nanjing CEC Panda's 8.5-generation line has a monthly production capacity of 30K IPS LCD, but it was eventually acquired by BOE. TCL Huaxing even tried to acquire LG Display's Guangzhou 8.5-generation IPS LCD production line, but LGD currently has no intention of selling it. After the failure of the two major acquisitions, TCL Huaxing considered building its own IPS LCD production line.

Analysts from Jiwei Consulting pointed out that if TCL Huaxing's 8.6-generation IPS LCD production line in Guangzhou is completed and put into production, it will form direct competition with LGD and BOE's IT panel business, and pose a threat to AUO and Innolux's 5.5-generation or 6-generation IT panel orders, because the 8.6-generation IPS LCD production line has higher cutting efficiency and can cut more wafers than the 5.5-generation and 6-generation lines.
