According to foreign media reports, Noopl seems to be one of the most interesting hardware startups born on the first day of CES. The Sacramento-based company has designed an accessory that is said to help users mask background noise in noisy environments. The small accessory comes with a lightning plug (currently only for iOS) that can be connected to the bottom of the iPhone. The device is equipped with three microphones as well as an audio signal processor - to reduce background noise.
When the device is plugged in, the Noopl app launches and establishes a connection with a pair of AirPods Pro. The device uses head tracking to determine the direction the wearer is facing and emits clearer sound in that direction. The app can then widen the directional beam and adjust the volume.
The company was founded by Steven Verdooner and Kevin Snow and is based on technology from the National Acoustic Laboratory (NAL) in Sydney.
The device is currently available for pre-order on the Noopl website for $199.
