What Apple did not expect was that before the release of iPhone 12, its top 5G expert actually switched to Microsoft.
According to foreign media reports, Rubén Caballero, one of Apple's key wireless engineers, recently decided to leave the Cupertino-based tech giant and join its long-time rival, Microsoft. Details about the departure are currently scarce, but Caballero appears to be joining Microsoft's mixed reality (MR) and artificial intelligence (AI) divisions.
Rubén Caballero is very important to Apple. He has participated in the development of most iPhone models since iPhone 4. In the future, his work at Microsoft will focus on Hololens and other special projects.
While at Apple, the engineer also worked on wireless chips and antenna components for a range of other devices, including not only the iPhone but also MacBooks, iPads and Apple TVs. This means Caballero could now help improve Microsoft's Surface line, especially as the software giant works to develop new products, including dual-screen models.
It is reported that Microsoft plans to launch its first dual-screen Android smartphone in the 2020 holiday season, and is expected to launch a dual-screen laptop equipped with the Windows 10X operating system next year.
According to known leaks, this fall's iPhone 12 series will offer four models, including iPhone 12 (5.4 inches), iPhone 12 Plus (6.1 inches), iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inches), and iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches). Among them, the 6.7-inch version is the most powerful model. The entire iPhone 12 series supports 5G networks and comes standard with a 5nm A14 Bionic processor, which greatly improves energy efficiency.
The two iPhone 12 series are equipped with rear dual cameras, LCD screens, and thick aluminum alloy frames; while the two iPhone 12 Pro series are equipped with triple cameras + LiDAR laser radar scanners, OLED screens, stainless steel middle frames, and narrower frames.
