Foreign media: Huawei's next-generation flagship chip Kirin 9010 will use 3nm process

Affected by the US ban, Huawei Consumer Business CEO Yu Chengdong said in August last year that the Kirin 9000 equipped with the Mate 40 series may be the last edition of Huawei's high-end chips. However, according to a Finnish whistleblower, Huawei's next-generation Kirin processor is currently under development and design, using a 3nm process and named "Kirin 9010".

Jiwei comment: Huawei will not give up chip research and development because of US sanctions. As for whether it can use TSMC's 3nm, it depends on subsequent developments.

TSMC and Samsung are reportedly facing difficulties in 3nm development, which may delay mass production

According to digitimes, industry insiders revealed that TSMC and Samsung have encountered different but critical bottlenecks in the development of their respective 3nm process technologies. The report said that TSMC and Samsung will therefore have to postpone the development of their 3nm process technology.

Jiwei comment: There is still some time before 3nm is officially mass-produced, so it is normal to encounter some difficulties. 3nm may be the next milestone in wafer foundry.
