According to the latest report from foreign media, Apple has asked its partners to start sending relevant components for testing, and these will eventually be integrated by Foxconn to eventually make a test machine for the foldable iPhone.
The report mentioned that Apple is currently testing key components of the folding phone, such as the screen and bearings. The screen panel will still be provided by Samsung, and there are several suppliers for the bearings, with Shin Nihon as the main supplier among Taiwanese manufacturers.
Industry insiders revealed that the hinge used in the first foldable iPhone will be developed by Taiwanese manufacturers such as Shin Nihon. It is reported that Shin Nihon has the ability to mass-produce hinges specifically for foldable phones and has sent samples to many brand customers.
Before this, there was news that Apple is building a fairly perfect iPhone, which has no bangs and a large enough screen. It is the foldable screen version of the iPhone, which is expected to be released in 2022 and the starting price is US$1,499, which is more than 10,000 yuan.
According to previous information, the company may have sourced foldable screens from Samsung, most likely to test the quality first. It has not yet been confirmed which display technology Apple intends to use on its foldable iPhone, but if everything goes according to plan, the switch to micrOLED could take around three to four years.
This could mean that the foldable iPhone could feature a mini LED screen as Apple intends to move to this technology first, but there is nothing confirmed yet.
