Qualcomm is set to host the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit early next month, during which the chipmaker is expected to launch its next flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 875. Just like last year, several smartphone OEMs are expected to unveil their next-generation flagships at the event.

Last year, Xiaomi was one of the few OEMs to announce its flagship Mi 10 series powered by Snapdragon 865 during the Tech Summit, and this year the Mi 11 series is expected to be mentioned at the event. While Xiaomi has not revealed any details about its upcoming flagship, recent leaks suggest that the Mi 11 Pro may have a big upgrade in terms of screen.

Earlier, the whistleblower @数码闲聊站 revealed that Xiaomi 11 Pro will use a QHD+ resolution panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Although this will not be the first Android phone with a QHD+ panel and a 120Hz refresh rate (OPPO Find X2 Pro and OnePlus 8 Pro already offer QHD+ 120Hz panels), it is a big leap for Xiaomi because the Mi 10 Pro uses a FHD+ panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz.

In addition to the high-resolution panel, Xiaomi is expected to introduce some new display features with the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. Another reliable Xiaomi tipster, XDA Senior Member kacskrz, recently discovered some new display features in the latest MIUI 12 beta code, including MEMC video frame interpolation, real-time SDR to HDR conversion of videos, and video super resolution.

IT Home learned that Xiaomi has implemented MEMC in several previous mobile phones, including the Xiaomi 10 Ultra and Xiaomi 10T Pro, but the company has not yet provided video real-time SDR to HDR or video super-resolution functions in any of its devices. There are some other devices on the market that provide video real-time SDR to HDR functions, such as OPPO Find X2 Pro and OnePlus 8 Pro. At present, it is unclear whether Xiaomi will use self-developed display technology to provide these functions, or will obtain licenses from companies such as Pixelworks.
