From October 14 to 16, the 3rd Global IC Entrepreneurs Conference and the 18th China International Semiconductor Expo (IC China 2020), co-organized by the China Semiconductor Industry Association, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and Shanghai Economic and Information Commission, was successfully held in Shanghai.
ASR Technologies Co., Ltd. (ASR) brought a number of its chips to the exhibition, including terminal chips, multi-mode data communication chips, low-power LoRa system chips, highly integrated WIFI chips, global navigation and positioning chips, highly integrated BLE chips, artificial intelligence chips and other star products.

Founded in 2015, ASR has provided chip platforms that match customer needs in the three types of IoT services, low, medium, and high speed, through precise layout, and quickly became one of the companies with the widest coverage of IoT technology in China.
At the exhibition, ASR6601, a world-leading product launched by ASR in September this year, also made a stunning appearance as the first domestically produced LPWAN wireless communication SoC chip supporting LoRa.
It is understood that low-speed, low-power, wide-connection (also known as LPWAN) services account for the vast majority of IoT applications. Since 2018, LPWAN has become a key driver for the growth of IoT connections, and the number of connections will exceed 1.1 billion by 2023. With the ASR6501 designed by Alibaba Cloud IoT and ASR through Semtech authorization in 2018, the situation that all LoRa chips in the Chinese market relied on imports was broken. After that, ASR successively launched three LoRa chips, ASR6501, ASR6502, and ASR6505, and the ASR6500S series system integration solution.
As the market size of low-power IoT application products grows and their life cycle grows longer, similar to the development history of many wireless communication chips, LPWAN chips are also gradually moving towards SoC. Through SoC design, ASR6601 has become the LPWAN chip with better power consumption, strongest performance and lowest cost on the market, greatly reducing the user design threshold.
Medium and low-speed services are the second largest IoT application, and typical representative applications include 4G-enabled feature phones, smart POS machines, wearable devices, shared devices, etc. This year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a document emphasizing the use of LTE Cat.1 to meet medium and low-speed application scenarios. ASR's star chips ASR360X and ASR160X series for the Cat.1 market fill the huge demand gap in the market for low-priced, high-quality, voice-supporting and certain-speed Cat.1 cellular chips. At present, with the continuous promotion of national policies and industrial needs, huge market dividends are being released rapidly. ASR's Cat.1 chips have reached cooperation with more than a dozen module manufacturers such as Quectel Communications, Sunsea Intelligence, and Gaoxing New IoT, achieving large-scale mass production and shipment, and maintaining a rapid growth trend.
Although high-speed services account for the smallest proportion, they are of high value and are the key development direction of future IoT services. Typical services include Internet of Vehicles, video surveillance, and telemedicine.
Based on its strong product development capabilities and excellent baseband design team, ASR also exhibited its ASR180X series that supports Cat.4 in the cellular market, which can be widely used in civil, industrial and industry applications. At the same time, it brought the ASR1826 series of thin modem chips that support Cat.7 for the mid-to-high-end market, which can be widely used in security monitoring, power communication, CPE and other industrial market fields. These products can meet the various needs of customers in the mainstream market's Cat.4 and Cat.7 specifications.
In addition, the artificial intelligence chip ASR7200 unveiled this time is a high-performance, highly integrated AI IPC SoC chip solution that can be widely used in safe cities, smart communities, smart homes and other fields, further demonstrating ASR's determination and strength in the field of artificial intelligence.
It can be said that customers with different needs can find chip platforms that match their needs in ASR's ever-increasing cellular technology camp. At the same time, based on ASR's existing comprehensive layout in the IoT market, including the IoT WiFi chip ASR550X series, IoT LoRa chip ASR650X series, IoT GNSS chip ASR530X series, IoT BLE chip ASR560X series, LoRa-supported LPWAN wireless communication SoC chip ASR6601 and artificial intelligence chip ASR7200, ASR's moat will continue to be widened and deepened.
