Western European 5G smartphone market surges in the first half of 2020, with Samsung accounting for nearly 90% of the market share

According to the latest report from market research firm Strategy Analytics, more than 57 million smartphones were shipped in Western Europe in the first half of 2020, of which 4 million were 5G smartphones, accounting for 7% of the total, up from less than 1% in 2019. Over the past year, demand for 5G smartphones in Western Europe has soared by more than 4,000%.

Among them, Samsung leads the Western European 5G mobile phone market with a market share of up to 88%. Strategy Analytics said, "Thanks to its powerful portfolio of advanced Android system products such as Galaxy S20 5G and A90 5G, Samsung is clearly the 5G leader in Western Europe."

Strategy Analytics also pointed out that Samsung's dominance in the 5G smartphone market will soon end in the second half of the year and the last few months of 2020. Apple's popular iPhone 12 5G has begun to sell, and Chinese competitors such as Xiaomi and OPPO, which have adopted a large number of low-cost 5G models, are also pouring into the region. The 5G war in Europe is about to begin.
