Official news shows that the 5G+ pilot factory built by China Telecom Ningbo Branch and Geely Automobile Research Institute has achieved a perfect connection between 5G networks and industrial intelligence, fully demonstrating China Telecom's ability to integrate 5G technology, systematically deploy solutions, and help industrial enterprises transform and upgrade to intelligent manufacturing.
In the 5G+ smart factory workshop of Ningbo Geely Automobile Research Institute, an AGV smart car is busy at work. Through the centralized control and dispatch of the 5G network, the car drives along the specified guide path and operates automatically. The low latency characteristics of 5G greatly improve the communication reliability between the AGV and the host computer, effectively avoiding the AGV car from being disconnected.
It is understood that as early as September last year, China Telecom Ningbo Branch built an SA 5G network for the R&D center and successfully implemented the application of slicing technology and MEC (edge cloud). At present, six 5G application scenarios have been successfully created, including vehicle software flashing, PTL logistics system real-time connection, logistics warehouse stacker information interaction, AGV system information interaction, BOSCH group control system, and factory remote management.
In the next step, China Telecom Ningbo Branch will give full play to the advantages of 5G technology to help Geely complete a flat, flexible, and fully interconnected high-performance factory network, and realize the upgrade of the factory network from an industrial network dominated by wired networks to a 5G full-connectivity conversion based on wired connections.
