The epidemic has brought too many uncertainties to 2020. After WWDC20 was held in the form of a recorded broadcast, this year's Apple fall conference is basically confirmed to be held in the form of a recorded broadcast.
And according to previous leaks, the original fixed lineup of iPhone + iPad + Apple Watch for the autumn conference will also be "broken up". The latter two may be launched in the form of a press release in September, and the focus of the conference will be entirely on the iPhone 12.
It just so happens that we recently got our hands on a "model" of the iPhone 12. Although there may be some differences from the real machine in details, it can help us understand the general "feeling of getting started" of the four iPhone 12 models in advance to a certain extent.
Anyone who has paid a little attention to the new iPhone should know that Apple will launch four iPhone 12 models this year, namely:
5.4-inch iPhone 12
6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max
6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro
6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max
Simply put, "the small ones get smaller, and the big ones get bigger."
In the original "three-model" lineup, the iPhone XS / iPhone 11 Pro is the smallest of the three models, but starting with this year's iPhone 12 Pro, its screen will use the same 6.1-inch screen as the iPhone 12 Max, and the size of the whole machine will be closer to the iPhone XR / iPhone 11.
In addition, the screen size of the iterative model of iPhone XS Max / iPhone 11 Pro Max - iPhone 12 Pro Max will be slightly increased to 6.7 inches. It is still difficult for people with small hands to operate it with one hand.
The most interesting one is the 5.4-inch iPhone 12. With the full screen, although the 5.4-inch screen is much larger than the 4.7-inch iPhone SE (second generation), after comparison, it is found that the former is even smaller in size, and it is stress-free to operate with one hand, which has a bit of the flavor of "full screen iPhone SE".
In addition to the adjustment of screen size, this year's iPhone 12 series may take the "retro route", abandoning the "rounded middle frame" inherited from the iPhone 6 era and replacing it with a right-angle middle frame design similar to the iPad Pro.
After getting used to the rounded feel of the iPhone, when I hold the square edges in my hand again, that familiar feeling comes back.
Although this year's iPhone 12 series all use a right-angle middle frame design, in order to distinguish the Pro models from the ordinary models, Apple will most likely make differentiated choices in the materials of the middle frame and the back of the phone. The basic iPhone 12 model will use an aluminum right-angle middle frame + glass back cover, and the iPhone 12 Pro series will continue to use a stainless steel right-angle middle frame + glass back cover.
In terms of camera, it is basically certain that the two "non-Pro models", namely the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max, will be equipped with dual cameras, which may continue to use last year's configuration of one wide-angle + one ultra-wide-angle; and the two "Pro models", namely the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, will be equipped with three cameras, adding a telephoto lens in addition to the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses.
But there is a variable in the LiDAR laser radar sensor. There are rumors that Apple wants to further differentiate the positioning of its two high-end iPhones and will only equip the iPhone 12 Pro Max with this sensor, while the iPhone 12 Pro may not be able to get it.
On the iPad Pro 2020, we have seen the role of the LiDAR laser radar sensor. By emitting a laser matrix with a longer distance and a larger coverage area, the machine has "spatial sensing" capabilities and shines in AR applications.
And unlike the iPad Pro 2020, the LiDAR on the iPhone 12 may also play a role in improving imaging capabilities, such as increasing autofocus speed and improving night scene performance.
Currently, the more reliable news about the iPhone 12 series is:
All series support 5G
120Hz ProMotion high refresh rate display
LiDAR Sensor
Wireless charging power increased to 20W
Support magnetic wireless charging
Cancel the included charging head
Comes with a braided Lightning cable
Memory upgraded to 6GB RAM
Lens configuration upgrade
Imaging capabilities are further upgraded
This year's iPhone 12 series is a "critical battle" for Apple. After being left behind by many Android manufacturers in the 5G field, Apple urgently needs an iPhone that can truly arouse the purchasing enthusiasm of the general public, and the iPhone 12 is bound to become the backbone of this burden.
