According to the news from Gitee’s official WeChat public account, on July 14, 2020, the Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the bidding results of the “2020 Open Source Hosting Platform Project”.
The content shows that a consortium consisting of 10 units, led by Shenzhen AoSi Network Technology Co., Ltd. (Open Source China), and including the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, the Fifth Electronic Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Qi'anxin Technology Group Co., Ltd., Inspur Electronic Information Industry Co., Ltd., Suzhou Prism Colorful Information Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Institute of Technology, and Southwest University of Science and Technology, won the bid for the project. The consortium will rely on Gitee to build China's independent open source hosting platform.

Regarding the national support for open source, Gitee said that it will also work hard to live up to the trust of the country, society, partners and the majority of developers and complete the project successfully.
