Huawei surpassed Samsung in the second quarter of this year and became the world's leading smartphone manufacturer. However, Huawei is now facing its biggest challenge because the US ban is expanding. Apart from the strong support of consumers in the mainland market, other markets are not optimistic. The industry believes that Huawei's chip supply is blocked, and brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo will take over the market gap left by Huawei, triggering an industry reshuffle.

In addition, according to Counterpoint statistics, Huawei's market share in mainland China reached 46% in the second quarter, a new high. Its market share of 5G mobile phones alone reached 60%, which is the most important basis for Huawei to maintain its mobile phone shipments. However, the recoil of the US ban is also gradually emerging.

Analysts believe that Huawei's business outside mainland China continues to suffer. In the second quarter, Huawei's overseas shipments fell 27% year-on-year. Currently, about 70% of Huawei's smartphones are sold in the mainland China market. Once the global economy recovers, the mainland China market alone will not be enough to support Huawei's leading position in the mobile phone market.

Huawei's consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong recently revealed that the second half of the year's flagship mobile phone Mate 40 series will be released in September, equipped with the "Kirin 9000" chip developed by its own HiSilicon, but the US ban may make the "Kirin 9000" Huawei's last self-made flagship processor.

The source of mobile phone chips is a big headache for Huawei. Once it starts to affect the shipment of new phones, Huawei will have no choice but to give up its market share. In addition to Xiaomi's stable position as the leader in the Indian smartphone market, Samsung also took the opportunity to boost its market share in India due to the Sino-Indian border conflict. India is the world's second largest mobile phone market. In addition, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo are also continuing to expand into Southeast Asia and Europe. In addition, although Apple's new generation of iPhones will be delayed for a few weeks, it should still be in time for the Christmas shopping season and welcome the big wave of phone replacement. It is expected that the ranking of the world's top five mobile phone manufacturers will also be reshuffled by then.
