Apple on Wednesday launched its Security Research Device Program, which provides security researchers with a special version of the iPhone that provides SSH access to restricted parts of regular iPhones.

According to a Forbes report last August, Apple plans to provide security researchers with special development versions of the iPhone that can do much more than regular iPhones and allow researchers to view code-level scenarios when attacking iOS code.
Apple is now accepting applications for the security research device, providing researchers with a one-year device use period. To apply for the program, relevant personnel only need to join Apple's developer program and demonstrate their ability and achievements in discovering security issues in Apple devices. However, the problems found on the device must be submitted to Apple.
