On the morning of April 30, Apple began pushing the iOS 13.5/iPadOS 13.5 developer preview Beta 3 update. In the iOS 13.5 beta version, Apple optimized Face ID. When the iPhone detects that the user is wearing a mask, the password input interface will pop up directly. Before this, it was more troublesome to use Face ID to unlock with a mask. Usually, you have to swipe up multiple times before the password input interface appears.
During the epidemic, the iPhone's Face ID function has caused inconvenience to many users, saying that it cannot be used while wearing a mask. There are also some tutorials on "using Face ID while wearing a mask" on the Internet, but they are not 100% successful, and Apple also said that this operation is not safe.
The optimized Face ID means that you can unlock your phone more conveniently when making mobile payments and other operations, without having to swipe up multiple times to display the password input interface.
This feature is currently only available in Apple's iOS 13.5 developer preview Beta 3. Since it is still a beta version, the official version will not be released for a few weeks.
It has to be said that this epidemic has made the Face ID technology on their iPhones very embarrassing. Earlier reports have said that Apple is also working on upgrading its own facial recognition technology, which may be achieved by acquiring third-party companies.
Add a toggle switch
This upgrade also includes the new coronavirus pneumonia contact tracing technology API, which allows health organizations to start developing new coronavirus pneumonia tracking apps. This feature is enabled by default when upgrading to iOS 13.5. However, Apple added a COVID-19 toggle switch in the iOS 13.5 update, which users can turn off at any time.
Earlier this month, Apple and Google announced a cross-platform contact tracing API that they will jointly develop. This will allow apps launched by public health departments to communicate between Android and iOS devices. Users will then be able to download these official apps through their respective app stores. The first version will be released on May 1, US time.
Users can now control automatic highlighting of video frames during group chats
In addition, iOS 13.5 includes a new feature in Group FaceTime where users can now control the automatic highlighting of the video frame during group chats. This means that the size of the video frame will no longer depend on who is speaking. Instead, the video tile will be laid out as it is now, and you can click to enlarge it if you want.
