According to a recent release from Foxconn Zhengzhou Science Park's official microblog, on March 6, several news media visited Foxconn Zhengzhou Science Park to interview the company's epidemic prevention and resumption of production. Since being approved to resume work and production on February 10, Foxconn Zhengzhou Park's current resumption rate has exceeded 80%, and production order has basically returned to normal.
As of March 6, the total number of employees at Foxconn's factories in Henan Province has reached 180,000, and the resumption rate of work and production has exceeded 80%. Currently, the resumption rate of work and production of most of the company's suppliers has also reached more than 80%, which can meet the normal supply to the Zhengzhou Park.
Earlier, according to Reuters, Apple supplier Foxconn said it would resume normal production in mainland China by the end of March. The company also said that more than half of its seasonal employees in China have returned to work after the outbreak of the new coronavirus. Apple, Foxconn's largest customer, canceled its March quarter sales forecast due to travel restrictions and the extension of the Spring Festival holiday, which led to lower-than-expected growth in its Chinese manufacturing base.
Foxconn's main iPhone production base is in Zhengzhou, while Shenzhen is its mainland headquarters. Of course, a small number of iPhones are also assembled in Shenzhen.
As previously reported, Foxconn Technology Group announced that it has hired Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a famous respiratory disease expert, as the group's chief consultant for COVID-19 prevention and resumption of work. Academician Zhong Nanshan and his team will provide free consulting and guidance to Foxconn on COVID-19 prevention and safe resumption of work and production.
