Solar silicon wafer maker Midea Semiconductor and its subsidiary GlobalWafers announced their September revenue on the 7th, which increased compared to August and the same period last year, and both hit a nearly three-month high.

The total revenue of Sino-American Silicon in the third quarter of this year was 16.107 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.3% from the previous quarter and 6.8% from the same period last year. Among them, the revenue of solar products was 1.804 billion yuan, a decrease of 8.1% from the previous quarter and 14.7% from the same period last year. GlobalWafers' revenue was 14.303 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.7% from the previous quarter and 5.7% from the same period last year.
Looking at the group's revenue performance this year, the parent company Sino-American Silicon's cumulative consolidated revenue in the first three quarters reached 50.268 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 2.3% compared with the same period last year; the subsidiary GlobalWafers' revenue was 44.588 billion yuan, an increase of 2.6% over the same period last year.
Looking ahead to the whole year, Xu Xiulan, general manager of Sino-US Silicon and chairman of GlobalWafers, pointed out recently that Sino-US Silicon has officially repaid its solar manufacturing loans, and that the solar energy business from batteries, modules to power plants has shown profits. In addition, after getting rid of all long-term contract burdens and recording equipment impairment losses, high-efficiency N-type solar cells will be mass-produced in the first half of next year. The solar energy business is expected to continue to make profits. Combined with the company's ultra-high cash holdings, the development is quite optimistic.
Regarding GlobalWafers, she said that due to the continued increase in overall economic uncertainties, overall operations this year may be the same as last year, or may increase or decrease slightly, depending mainly on the customer's inventory clearance situation. It is estimated that the bottom of the 12-inch wafer market demand will fall in the third quarter.
The Semiconductor Industry and Equipment International (SEMI) estimates that after more than a year of inventory liquidation, the silicon wafer spot market is expected to stabilize in the fourth quarter, but terminal demand has not seen a strong recovery and the market recovery is relatively slow. Overall, GlobalWafers' revenue situation is still expected to continue to improve.
