According to Reuters, the United States hopes Facebook can delay the plan because it is worried that Facebook's encrypted information plan will lead to disadvantageous handling of future cases.

The United States, Britain and Australia signed a special data agreement on Thursday to allow law enforcement officials to request data from technology companies to view the online conversations of terrorists and child predators.

The agreement will allow the British government to directly request data from US technology companies for criminal investigations, reducing the time required to obtain information from six months to two years to a matter of weeks or even days.

At the same time as the agreement was signed, the US government also sent an open letter to Facebook, calling on CEO Zuckerberg to suspend the information encryption plan. Reuters pointed out that this agreement may also affect the way companies such as Apple, Google and Microsoft handle user encrypted data.

Since the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received more than 18 million cases of online child sexual harassment last year, more than 90% of which occurred on Facebook, Undersecretary of Justice Sujit Raman estimated that if Facebook implements encryption, up to 75% of the cases may become untraceable.

However, due to concerns about compromising user privacy, Facebook issued a statement refusing to assist the government in building a "backdoor."

Facebook's global head of safety said the company was looking for other ways to prevent users from engaging in inappropriate behavior and ensure harassers cannot reach children.
