According to the charging head website, after the iPhone system updated to iOS 13.1, the 7.5W mode of a large number of Apple wireless chargers on the market became invalid, causing Apple's 7.5W fast charging to return to 5W overnight.
After testing by the charging head network, after the mobile phone updated to iOS 13.1 system as soon as possible, most of the wireless chargers that originally supported Apple's 7.5W wireless charging were unable to enable 7.5W wireless charging after upgrading to iOS 13.1, and could only return to the original 5W charger.
Moreover, this incident has nothing to do with the phone model. Whether it is the three new models in the latest iPhone 11 series or all wireless charging models of iPhone 8 and above, they will be affected after upgrading to iOS 13.1.
According to information obtained from the supply chain, the real reason behind this incident is that the latest iOS 13.1 and subsequent system versions only allow Apple-approved fixed-frequency voltage regulation architectures, and all other wireless charging solutions are banned.
Currently, wireless charging transmitters on the market are mainly divided into two categories: the first category is low-end and mid-range transmitters, which use variable frequency architecture and fixed frequency duty cycle architecture. These products are the ones that are banned this time. The second category is transmitters that support Apple's 7.5W, which use a fixed frequency voltage regulation architecture. Fixed frequency voltage regulation is the standard solution officially designated by Apple. The 7.5W fast charge proposed by Apple at the MFi conference uses a fixed frequency voltage regulation architecture.
The fixed-frequency voltage regulation architecture can bring better performance in terms of charging stability, charging efficiency, FOD safety, and interference with mobile phones. It can make Apple iPhone wireless charging more efficient and provide better user experience, which is beneficial to the development of industry standards in the long run.
