Engadget praised the iPhone 11's affordable $699 price, CNBC said Apple's portrait mode was the best, and HardwareZone said the A13 Bionic chip "beats the competition by a wide margin."
Although Apple only excerpted the good parts of each review, overall most people praised the new iPhone.
However, some comments believe that apart from the camera improvements, this year's updates are basically minimal and do not have many innovative features.
In addition to the iPhone 11 Pro series, the lower-priced iPhone 11 has also been praised by the media, who all agree that the line between the 11 and 11 Pro series has become more blurred this year. In short, this phone is likely to be the best choice for most consumers this quarter.
Wired magazine expressed a similar view, calling the phone the iPhone for "almost everyone" and praising the smartphone's camera upgrades, decent battery life, low price, and the speed of the A13 Bionic processor. The media outlet particularly praised Apple's user interface design for the camera app, noting that it was an intuitive way to improve the camera experience. Apple's camera interface may not have as many features as its competitors' interfaces, but it is very easy to use.
"Smartphones are now cluttered with so many features that it can be hard to figure out what's what, which can discourage people from trying all the newfangled stuff. On many high-end Android phones, for example, the wide-angle icon is a cluster of trees. When you select Pro mode on Samsung's Galaxy Note10+, there are at least 17 photo options to choose from, some of which inset the viewfinder's borders."
Wired magazine concluded that the iPhone 11 is an impressive product, but Apple did not make more innovations on this basic iPhone this year, such as still using the last generation LCD screen and lacking built-in fingerprint sensor and other features. But they still think that the iPhone 11 is a "very good phone" overall, with enough features to attract people to upgrade.
The Verge, a tech blog, simply wrote at the beginning of its review: "The iPhone 11 is the phone most people who are upgrading to a new iPhone this year should buy." The site particularly likes the iPhone 11's camera upgrades, including the ultra-wide-angle lens and night mode. They compared the previous products and believed that the photos taken by the iPhone X "look terrible" in comparison with the iPhone 11.
Engadget discussed the quality of the iPhone 11's display, noting that it has the same LCD display as last year's iPhone XR. According to the site, while the display is lower quality than the OLED in the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, "the difference isn't noticeable in day-to-day use."
Engadget considers the iPhone 11's 6.1-inch display to be the best choice between the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro and the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max. The site also praised the iPhone 11's battery life, which averaged nearly 17 hours. Of course, in some ways, the iPhone 11 suffers from the same shortcomings as the XR: It has one less camera than Apple's more premium models, and the screen isn't as good as the XR's.
