Huawei's first foldable smartphone, the Mate X, is expected to be launched in October, and there are reports that an upgraded version will be launched later. It is reported that Samsung, a friendly company, has released the Galaxy Fold in South Korea and plans to bring it to more countries by the end of this month.
At IFA 2019, Huawei's consumer business CEO Richard Yu said that Huawei intends to launch its first foldable device, the Mate X, sometime in October. He also announced plans to launch an improved version of the Mate X soon after. He said: "We were going to release the Mate X last month, but we postponed it. Maybe we will start selling the Mate X next month, and we are also considering upgrading it to a new chipset."
It is understood that the improved version of Mate X may be equipped with the latest Kirin 990, which includes support for 5G. At the same time, Yu Chengdong said that the improved version will not be available until a few months after the original model is launched.
