In the mobile phone market, most mobile phones use graphene as the main material for heat dissipation, which is widely used in all price ranges; while the more efficient and expensive copper tube liquid cooling is mostly used in high-end flagship phones and gaming phones. However, with the advent of the 5G era, this situation may change, and liquid cooling may be widely used in 5G mobile phones of all price ranges.
It is reported that in the early stage of 5G era, due to the stronger performance of mobile phone chips and the operation of 5G baseband, the overall energy consumption of mobile phones will be greatly increased, which brings higher heat dissipation requirements, and the heat dissipation of currently commonly used materials may not be able to meet them. Therefore, hot plate heat dissipation and even liquid cooling technology with higher heat dissipation efficiency will be rapidly popularized and widely used in major 5G mobile phones in the early stage of 5G era.
However, this situation may only be limited to the early stage of 5G. As 5G technology gradually matures and chip technology develops, by the mid-term of 5G, 5G chips with higher efficiency and lower power consumption may be born, reducing heat generation. In this way, cheaper materials such as graphene can easily handle heat dissipation, and there is no need to use expensive liquid cooling; and after the cost is reduced, 5G mobile phones are also expected to be available to consumers at a lower price.
