On July 24, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, announced on Weibo that Xiaomi TV has achieved the best sales in China, becoming the only TV brand to exceed 4 million units in both shipments and sales in the first half of the year!

Lei Jun also gave the data source for Xiaomi TV's No. 1 sales in China, which was supported by reports from three institutions: AVIC Cloud Network, Qunzhi Consulting, and China Market Research Group.

Regarding Xiaomi TV's achievement of ranking first in sales in China in the first half of 2019, media person He Yang wrote that this was not the highlight moment of China's color TV industry, but on the contrary it was the darkest moment, and it was also the greatest sorrow of Chinese color TV people: a large number of old-established companies were powerless to deal with Xiaomi, a rookie-level opponent that "had no technical capabilities, no manufacturing capabilities, and no service capabilities."

He believes that the downturn in China's color TV market and the difficulties faced by color TV companies are largely due to the price war of Xiaomi TV, which has hindered the process of industrial transformation and upgrading and even misled consumers in choosing high-definition and high-quality TVs. Selling TVs directly as display screens has made Xiaomi TV a success, but it has dragged down the color TV industry.

The remarks made by the media person He Yang caused strong dissatisfaction among Xiaomi's new media operations director @小米浩子, who refuted them in a post. @小米浩子 said:

"The downturn in the color TV market and the difficulties faced by color TV companies are due to the low prices of Xiaomi TVs? What a great logic! Typical thoughts of "Why should I change when I am living off my old capital" and "It is always someone else's fault when my cake is taken away, no matter if it is because I am too weak or not". This scene seemed to have appeared when Xiaomi released the power strip. What was the final result? Didn't the old power strip company change the ID that had been used for decades to one that was similar to Xiaomi's? I think "ignorance" is the tragedy of traditional Chinese manufacturing companies."

So do you agree with the Xiaomi executive's point of view?
