Recently, two things about Xiaomi have been very popular. One is that Mimoji was suspected of plagiarizing Apple's Memoji expressions, and the other is that the Xiaomi CC series was hit by Chang Cheng.
First of all, Mimoji was suspected of plagiarizing Apple's Memoji expressions. It first originated from a Weibo post by the well-known digital blogger @搞机少女 comparing Mimoji with Apple iPhone's Memoji. Xiaomi was suspected by netizens of plagiarizing Apple's creativity.
Xiaomi denied the allegations, saying that when Xiaomi released the first generation of Mimoji in May 2018, its English name was Mimoji, and the APK package name was also Mimoji. Apple enabled Memoji on June 5, 2018. The functional logic of the two products is very different.
Speaking of the Xiaomi CC series being copied by Chang Cheng, Xiaomi explained at the time that the reason the new series was named CC series was mainly because it was designed by a group of chic & cool post-90s who were committed to creating a product with a "double C-position" photo-taking experience with the front and back cameras.
What’s interesting is that the CC series, which was given profound meaning by Xiaomi, was plagiarized by Chang Cheng, vice president of Lenovo Group. In one of his Weibo posts, the accompanying picture miraculously spelled out the number 6 with two letters “C”. The colors used were similar to those used in the promotional posters of Xiaomi CC series, and the letter “Z” was vaguely visible. Chang Cheng said that Lenovo Z6 will debut with two C positions.
Some netizens also gave their comments: "CC is indeed Chang Cheng", "Xiaomi CC, translated as Xiaomi Chang Cheng series". (Note that Chang Cheng's Chinese pinyin is Chang Cheng, just put the first letters of his name together to get CC)
Soon on July 2, the two things mentioned above by Xiaomi were ridiculed by Tmall Genie’s official Weibo account, which said: “What a coincidence~ Moji expressions look a bit like others, how come even their names are the same as mine?”
What do you think of Tmall Genie's ridicule?
