According to Reuters, British Culture Minister Jeremy Wright said that the launch of the UK's 5G network may be delayed. He stressed that the UK will not lose economic benefits in order to use equipment with "security risks."

As previously reported, the UK National Security Council's preliminary decision to allow Huawei to participate in the construction of the "non-core" part of the 5G network was leaked last month, and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mercilessly criticized the UK's decision. Whether Jeremy Wright's statement at this time is actually a ulterior motive remains to be seen in the future.

Jeremy Wright said: "Lawmakers can roll out 5G as quickly as possible without taking security into account. But we are not prepared to do that, so we cannot rule out the possibility of delays in the rollout of 5G in the UK."

He added: "The main purpose of this is to ensure network security."

While he could not say for sure when a report on 5G network security would be released, Wright said he hoped it would not be "too long from now".
