The official website of Gionee Mobile Phones is no longer accessible. Three days after the news spread, Gionee's official website quietly went online and announced that it was a "false alarm."

Gionee's official website can no longer be opened

A source told Securities Daily that Gionee's mobile phone business was suspended two years ago, and mobile phone production has stopped. Now only some dealers are selling their inventory through online channels. "Gionee mobile phones are unlikely to return to the market."

People familiar with the matter believe that Gionee’s mobile phone business is unlikely to recover. Even if a takeover party is found, the business may not be able to continue. It has been away from the market for too long, and most of its major advantageous resources will be transferred. Eventually, Gionee may transfer it in its entirety.

At present, although Gionee is in the stage of bankruptcy liquidation, it is also seeking opportunities for restructuring. Recently, the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court held the first creditors' meeting today in the case of bankruptcy liquidation of Gionee Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Gionee"). As of March 21, 2019, a total of 558 creditors were notified to declare their claims, and a total of 372 creditors made their claims. After review by the administrator, 324 creditors have been preliminarily identified and included in the "Credible Claims List", with a total amount of 17.359 billion yuan (including foreign currency claims).

It is reported that Gionee has sold its mobile phone business in India to Karbonn Mobile, a local Indian mobile phone manufacturer, for about 200 million yuan.
