China Mobile successfully made the first 5G call on a 5G mobile phone on the Beijing 5G test network. The call used the NSA core network and IMS network upgraded from the 4G live network, enabling calls between 5G mobile phones without changing the card or number, and the 5G voice call was clear.
Earlier on the evening of April 9, China Mobile Beijing Company completed the NSA version upgrade of its core network equipment. After the upgrade, the core network and IMS network have 5G functions and fully support the access of 5G terminals. On April 12, China Mobile Beijing Company successfully made its first 5G call.
In December last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially approved the 5G test frequency bands of the three major operators. China Mobile was approved for the 2.6GHz and 4.9GHz test frequency bands, which quickly promoted the maturity of the industry of the two frequency bands, including networks and terminals. This move will bring new challenges to China Mobile. Industry insiders pointed out that this time China Mobile achieved end-to-end 5G mobile phone calls in Beijing through the 2.6GHz 5G network environment, which marked that China Mobile's 5G business application level in Beijing has reached a new level.
Earlier, China Mobile Beijing Company had completed the first domestic 5G autonomous driving demonstration zone, undertaken the business demonstration task of the "5G Autonomous Driving Summit", completed the world's first 5G+ true 4K sports event live broadcast (Migu CBA), and completed the 5G network-based drone video demonstration business. It is understood that China Mobile Beijing Company has also undertaken the National Development and Reform Commission's 5G five major business pilots, and continued to explore the 5G application prospects of multiple industries such as high-definition live broadcast, medical care, drones, autonomous driving, and safe campuses, and achieved rapid promotion of 5G network commercialization.
