Vodafone Open RAN
“Optimizing software to take advantage of silicon design is critical to achieving a low total cost of ownership for open RAN,” said Paco Martin, head of Open RAN at Vodafone. “The Intel vRAN AI Development Kit, based on the AI accelerators built into Intel Xeon Scalable processors, helps develop software for hardware optimization. Our joint testing of AI-assisted Network Slice Radio Resource Management (NSRRM) showed that this assistance helped meet SLAs, optimize radio resource allocation, and improve spectrum efficiency compared to without AI assistance.”
In addition to operators, Intel is also working with a wide range of vRAN ecosystem partners to further promote the introduction of AI technology in RAN, including Aira, Capgemini, Deepsig, Ericsson and the Ericsson-Intel Tech Hub Innovation Lab, Mavenir, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, etc.
As you can see, the transformation to open, virtualized RAN is progressing steadily . At the same time, Intel will continue to provide new innovative technologies and solutions to continuously improve the performance, energy efficiency and value of general-purpose vRAN hardware.
