JLSemi releases BlueWhale™, a new generation of switch chip technology platform

Supports TSN real-time transmission requirements for in-vehicle and industrial networks, responding to the trend of cloud-based data management for SOHO and SMB

Nanjing, China - On June 9, 2021, JLSemi Jinglue Semiconductor released the BlueWhale™ new generation L2/L2+ network switch chip technology at the 2021 World Semiconductor Conference held in Nanjing. This is another masterpiece of JLSemi's independent intellectual property rights since the announcement of EtherNext™ high-speed Ethernet physical layer PHY chip architecture technology in 2019. The innovative chip architecture technology developed to meet the needs of TSN real-time transmission of in-vehicle and industrial networks and cloud-based management of SOHO and SMB data communications fills the gap in the industry.

With years of technical accumulation in the network communication industry and deep insights into automotive and industrial network applications, JLSemi has independently defined and developed the BlueWhale™ Ethernet Switch technology platform, combined with the EtherNext™ high-speed Ethernet PHY technology architecture, focusing on the emerging L2/L2+ automotive and industrial switch market. It has strong scalability and supports 4 to 52 ports, meeting the port rates from standard 10Mbps to Mutil-G, as well as up to 10Gbps optical port uplink transmission requirements.

BlueWhale™'s innovative technology architecture is based on EtherNext™ high-speed Ethernet PHY technology and can be equipped with a built-in RISC-V MCU or CPU. It is highly configurable and can quickly launch switch chip products in a short period of time according to customer needs to meet the ever-changing market needs. For the automotive and industrial network markets, the BlueWhale™ technology platform can meet the automotive and industrial requirements for TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking). Its embedded MCU can also support Lock-Step, meeting the requirements of IVN (In-Vehicel-Network) and industrial Internet for real-time data transmission and network security. In the SOHO and SMB markets, in response to the rise of cloud-based network management needs in recent years, the BlueWhale™ platform can also support local Light-Managmenet light network management to meet the growing demand for cloud-based Cloud-Management management, while reducing user system costs and enhancing the security of data communications.

"Several mega-trends are advancing in parallel, including the transformation of in-vehicle E/E electronic and electrical architecture brought about by the trend of automotive intelligence and electrification, the popularization of high data bandwidth (multi-gigabit) of 5G/Wi-Fi6 technology, and the demand for data bandwidth in new application scenarios (remote work, learning and entertainment) brought about by the epidemic, all of which are driving the demand for high-speed Ethernet solutions. We see unprecedented opportunities in the automotive and industrial Ethernet, SOHO and SMB network communication markets." Dr. He Runsheng, co-founder, chairman and CEO of JLSemi Jinglue Semiconductor, said: "After years of accumulation, the JLSemi team successfully launched a series of products based on EtherNext™ high-speed Ethernet physical layer PHY transmission technology last year, and supplied them in large quantities, which have been highly recognized by the market. This year, the team has continued to work hard to develop BlueWhale™, a new generation of L2/L2+ data switching technology. Its highly innovative scalable and configurable chip architecture will help us quickly launch Switch and PHY product portfolios for different applications to meet the high-growth needs of the multi-billion dollar automotive, industrial and network communication markets."

About JLSemi

In 2019, JLSemi successfully taped out the automotive Gigabit Ethernet PHY chip and created the Cheetah™ series of automotive Ethernet Gigabit and 100M PHY products, becoming the first company in China with in-vehicle T1 single-pair Gigabit and standard 10G bandwidth transmission technology, filling the domestic gap and gaining the favor of leading OEMs and Tier1 in the automotive industry. The Antelope™ series of industrial Ethernet PHY products, which began mass production in 2020, supply multiple market segments and have shipped more than tens of millions of units, not only bringing excellent products and services to customers, but also improving the supply chain security factor for customers.

As an industry-leading network communication chip design company, JLSemi Jinglue Semiconductor is a national high-tech enterprise and a member of the China RISC-V Industry Alliance. In 2018, it founded Jinzhen Microelectronics as an operating entity, focusing on the high-speed network communication chip market, and has design, testing and operation and maintenance centers in Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Hong Kong and Singapore.
