On April 23, Xiaomi held a new product launch conference in Beijing, where they launched new TVs, floor-standing air conditioners, etc. After the launch of these new products, Lei Jun published an article titled "Why does Xiaomi make large appliances?" on his WeChat public account to explain why they are committed to making large appliances.
Many people are curious about why Xiaomi entered such a "traditional" field as home appliances. Lei Jun said in this article that this was determined by their mission. Xiaomi's mission is to insist on making good products that are "touching and reasonably priced" so that everyone in the world can enjoy the good life brought by technology.
Lei Jun reiterated: "We always adhere to the consumer demand-oriented, perceive the core demands of consumers, therefore, we have entered more and more consumer goods industries, using the Xiaomi model to make consumer goods "touching, affordable", the original intention of entering the field of large appliances is the same."
At the beginning of this year, Xiaomi determined its strategy for the next ten years: mobile phones + AIoT dual engines. Lei Jun believes that AIoT is the intelligent interconnection of all things, which is the next generation of super Internet. The advent of the AI era has given Xiaomi a super opportunity that is at least one order of magnitude larger than the mobile Internet era. As AI+ voice interaction becomes more and more daily, using voice to control lighting switches, even turning on the air conditioner and watching TV is just a matter of words. It can be foreseen that in the future, all devices in the home will be interconnected and able to interact with voice and artificial intelligence. This is the most important global technology development trend in the next 10 years.
Lei Jun also said: In the future, Xiaomi will regard large home appliances as one of the core pieces of the blueprint for sustainable development in the next 10 years. They hope to promote more home appliances to become interconnected smart products, just like the changes Xiaomi brought to the mobile phone industry nine years ago.
Finally, Lei Jun believes that insisting on innovation is the core strategy of Xiaomi's home appliance business. In the future, Xiaomi will further strengthen its innovation efforts, focusing on design and smart experience, as well as the interconnection of smart homes, to bring more surprises and beauty to consumers' lives.
