On November 23, Zhou Houjian, chairman of Hisense Group, said in an internal email that without its own chips, it would not be qualified to define its own products. In other words, it would be difficult to get rid of product homogeneity and it would only be able to follow, and thus could not be at the forefront of the industry.

Zhou Houjian believes that chips are the core technology of the Internet. Without their own chip design capabilities, companies can only simply assemble components and produce common products, whether they are making mobile phones or TVs. On the contrary, from Apple to Samsung, outstanding companies all design their own chips and define their own products from the source.

Zhou Houjian said that without its own chips, it is not qualified to define its own products. In other words, it is difficult to get rid of product homogeneity and can only follow others, and thus cannot be at the forefront of the industry.

"From the perspective of Hisense's development stage, differentiation is an effective way to get rid of the 'following' mentality. But if we don't have our own chips, our products will not be able to escape homogeneous competition with second-rate manufacturers. In other words, we will always be a second-rate manufacturer," said Zhou Houqian.

According to the data, Hisense launched the "Hiview chip" in 2005, which can be widely used in various flat-panel TVs, CRT TVs, various rear-projection TVs, and display devices. Recently, Hisense announced that it will hold a new product launch conference on November 25, claiming that this launch will be "epoch-making for China's TV industry." It is speculated that the content of this launch may be related to chips.
