On June 11, according to HUST, from June 5 to 7, HUST Central Research Institute and Harbin Institute of Technology National Key Laboratory of Robotics Technology and Systems (HIT Robotics Laboratory for short) officially signed a contract and held an expert appointment ceremony, marking the launch of China's first all-weather laser intelligent weeding robot.

It is reported that the first all-weather intelligent laser weeding robot in China, developed by the Harbin Institute of Technology Robotics Laboratory and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, has achieved a domestic first in this field with the research and development goals of "zero pollution to the environment, zero damage to the land, and day and night operation". Field trials are currently being carried out in Aihui District, Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province.

According to reports, laser weeding is a physical targeted weeding method that uses lasers to irradiate weeds, causing the cells inside the grass leaves to dehydrate, rupture and die. The all-weather intelligent laser weeding robot integrates deep learning artificial intelligence technology, AI intelligent weed identification, and targeted development of multi-target positioning and dynamic delay error compensation algorithms. It can not only identify weeds and locate target meristems, but also "do not damage crops, pollute the soil, or consume manpower."

IT Home learned that the Harbin Institute of Technology Robotics Laboratory focuses on scientific issues and core key technologies in the field of robotics, such as innovative mechanism design, intelligent perception, autonomous control, interactive integration and system integration, and conducts basic and applied research. It is one of the earliest units in my country to carry out research on robotics technology and the only national key laboratory for robotics technology in the country.

HGTECH Corporation, known as the "first laser stock in China", was established in 1999 and was born out of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In March 2021, the company completed the separation of school and enterprise, and the actual controller was changed from Huazhong University of Science and Technology to Wuhan State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
