National Evaluation and Inspection Center settled in Pudong, Shanghai

Recently, the Pudong branch of the National Robotics Testing and Assessment Center (Headquarters) officially moved into Zhangjiang Robot Valley and reached strategic cooperation agreements with a number of robotics industry-related companies.

With the rapid development of new-generation information technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G, big data, and cloud computing, the intelligent robot industry is in a period of rapid growth. According to relevant data, the scale of China's intelligent robot market reached 16.8 billion yuan in 2020, exceeded 25 billion yuan in 2021, and is expected to reach a huge market of nearly 100 billion yuan in 2025.

Faced with such broad development prospects, my country urgently needs to establish a complete intelligent robot system and classify and evaluate intelligent robots of different types and application scenarios to better promote technological innovation and industrialization in this field.

To this end, in March 2015, the National Development and Reform Commission initiated the establishment of the National Robot Testing and Assessment Center (referred to as the "National Assessment Center"), and cooperated with multiple ministries and local governments to adopt a "1+3+2" construction model (1 headquarters, 3 branch centers, and 2 public service platforms). Among them, Shanghai Electric Science Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd., as the headquarters construction unit, shoulders the leading responsibility.

The National Intelligent Rating Inspection Center is located in Zhangjiang. With the strong support of the Shanghai and Pudong New Area governments, the center will take advantage of the Zhangjiang robot industry cluster and rely on the technical strength of scientific research institutions such as Shanghai Electronics Technology Group Corporation to create a domestic leading robot intelligent rating system, which will effectively promote the rapid development of the intelligent robot industry in Shanghai and even the whole country.

It is understood that the laboratory will take the formulation and revision of robot intelligence level standards as a starting point, and start construction from three dimensions: technology research and development, testing and evaluation methods, and laboratory construction.

The laboratory plans to establish multi-dimensional testing capabilities for evaluating robot intelligence through four levels: algorithm testing, physical testing, simulation testing, and field testing. It will also manage and operate the laboratory through three modes: self-built laboratories, joint laboratories, and shared laboratories, and strive to become a first-class domestic robot intelligence rating center.

Empowering the upstream and downstream of the robot industry chain

As the service window and technical support of the National Robot Testing and Assessment Center in Shanghai, the National Robot Testing and Assessment Center will surely give full play to its professional advantages in robot standardization and testing, and make full use of the data and models provided by the digital platform to carry out the classification, performance assessment, system integration and optimization of intelligent robots.

This will not only enable consumers to better understand the intelligence level and applicable scenarios of robot products of different brands and models, but will also effectively promote the research and development and optimization iteration of upstream robot core components, and guide mid- and downstream system integrators to focus on innovative applications of robots of different levels and types.

It can be foreseen that the operation of the National Evaluation and Intelligent Inspection Center will form a positive technological integration and industrial synergy effect in the robot industry. It will promote close cooperation between the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, promote the rapid innovation of various types of robots such as industrial robots , service robots , and general robots represented by humanoid robots, and accelerate the application and popularization of robots in a wide range of fields such as industry, service, family, and medical care .

Conclusion

Shanghai is one of the most economically developed regions in my country, and it is also a region where the intelligent robot industry started early and has developed rapidly.

In recent years, the Shanghai Municipal Government has attached great importance to the integrated innovation of new-generation information technology and robotics technology, and has regarded it as an important tool for a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. It has introduced a number of policies and measures to support the robotics industry and strive to build a new generation of artificial intelligence innovation highland.

Among them, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Zone has actively promoted the integration of production, education, research and application and the opening up of the innovation chain. It has brought together many leading enterprises and incubated and cultivated a group of high-growth innovation teams. It is a highland where domestic and foreign high-tech enterprises gather.

Looking into the future, with strong policy support, the completion of the common robot platform will surely promote new breakthroughs in key robot technologies and industrial applications, and make greater contributions to promoting the improvement of intelligent manufacturing levels and high-quality economic development in Shanghai and even the whole country.
