On July 26, Zhuzheng Robotics received a round B financing led by Puhua Capital, followed by Sugaoxin Financial Holdings, and Hanyu Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor. According to Qichacha, the amount of this round of financing may reach nearly 100 million yuan, which will be mainly used to accelerate the company's orthopedic product layout and improve the company's full-chain layout from navigation and positioning robots to autonomous operation robots.
Zhuzheng Robotics was founded in 2016. With surgical robots as the core, it researches new, intelligent, high-end medical devices with independent intellectual property rights, develops products related to minimally invasive spinal surgery, provides digital spinal surgery full-process surgical solutions, and creates a navigation positioning + autonomous operation medical robot product matrix.
The core team of the company comes from the Medical Robotics Laboratory of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. They have more than 20 years of experience in the development of domestic medical robots. They have presided over and participated in many national-level project research, and have undertaken many major special research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, the National "973" Program, and the National "863" Program. The company has applied for 106 patents in total, accumulated scientific research results such as the independently developed robot remote operation platform and operation robots, created many firsts in domestic surgical robots, and won two second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award for related research.
The founder, Professor Hu Lei, has been involved in the field of medical robots for nearly 26 years. In 1997, while teaching at the Robotics Institute of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Professor Hu participated in the research of "stereotactic brain surgery robot system" for the first time, embarking on his journey of robots. As the research continued to deepen, Professor Hu realized that with the continuous development of AI and automation technology, as well as patients' increasing expectations and demands for minimally invasive and precise surgery, robot-assisted surgery will become the mainstream surgical method in the future, thus expanding the research direction from brain surgery to orthopedics, traditional Chinese medicine, dentistry, motor function and many other medical robot fields, and trying to combine with clinical experience to promote medical robots on the road to commercialization.
The unique status of China's medical system requires robot products that can truly meet clinical needs and penetrate into the grassroots market. The Zhuzheng surgical robot was reported in CCTV's special report "A Surgical Robot Comes to the County". With its pioneering intuitive image positioning method, the robot has won praise from doctors.
Professor Hu introduced: "The characteristic of the Robotics Institute of Beihang University is that every technology is designed to solve clinical problems, which also lays a solid foundation for the subsequent transformation of scientific research results." The imprint of Beihang University's teaching has made Professor Hu firmly believe that only practical technology has vitality.
In the past, surgical robots have all faced the problem of revenue difficulties. Even companies that have successfully gone public are still struggling in this regard. Professor Hu's insistence on doing everything he can to bring technology into reality has given investors confidence in Zhuzheng Robotics.
