When "cross-border" becomes a trend, traditional robotic arms are also constantly evolving into new forms.
Although the flexible joints of the robotic arm can bring 360 degrees of freedom, it can only be fixed in a certain position, which limits its application space. Mobile robots are truly mobile robots that can move freely within a specified space, but they have the disadvantage of poor operability. Therefore, the combination of the two, the composite robot, emerged, opened up a new market space.
A composite robot is a new type of robot that uses an AMR as a chassis and a collaborative robotic arm to integrate the functions of a mobile robot and an industrial robot . With visual sensors and a mobile platform, the composite robot has "hands, feet, eyes, and brain" and is capable of autonomous composite operations. Its functions are far superior to AGV, AMR, and a single robotic arm.
In applications, the "eyes" and "brains" are mainly used as command centers, while the "hands" and "feet" are directly involved in on-site operations. With the advantages of the "hands", the composite robot can complete the loading and unloading of materials and other grasping tasks, and with the characteristics of the "feet", it can achieve point-to-point transportation, which is suitable for various production tasks with refined management.
2021 is recognized as the first year of composite mobile robots. Since then, robot manufacturers have been competing to emerge. Initially, composite robots were mainly used in the semiconductor industry to meet the high-beat requirements of the production process. Almost all leading semiconductor companies have introduced composite robots. With the extension of applications, there are currently key layouts in scenarios such as biochemical analysis and testing, 3C electronics, warehouse management, inspection and maintenance, and scientific research laboratories.
With the use of new materials, information management and the demand for high-precision production, composite robots are now putting forward new requirements for high speed, flexibility, high precision, intelligent manipulation and reliability, which put forward higher standards for robotic arms and mobile robot products.

At present, composite robots have entered the power inspection industry, cooperating with remote control to perform simple operation tasks. With the iteration of technology, composite robots will usher in a rapid development of the industry after being polished and tempered.
